What a fun and inspiring event this turned out to be! On behalf of the Northwest Tea Festival, four of us presented two 2-hour events last Sunday, connecting girls to tea and the tea cultures of China, India, Japan, and Britain.
We had girls from 2nd grade up to 12th grade for the day—and divided the events into two age groups: the 2-5th graders enjoyed a morning session while the 6-12th graders were treated to tea and many country traditions in the afternoon.
Stephanie Wilson, who has studied Japanese Tea Ceremony for the past three years presented tea and culture of Japan, while Jessica Campbell represented India in her beautiful Sari. We were all served Masala Chai and ate traditional Indian snacks.
Ana Martinez presented how tea is enjoyed in Britain, and I introduced Chinese tea culture to the girls.
We hope to have two NWTF annual events for Girl Scouts of Western Washington: one at the Northwest Tea Festival and one mid-year. We’re planning next October’s right now!
